Curriculum

Curriculum Overview

The guiding principals of the curriculum implemented at The North London International School are:
  • Students should develop a holistic attitude to knowledge; they should see the subjects they learn as an integrated whole.

  •  Students' own cultural experiences and backgrounds, and those of our diverse teaching staff, are a valuable learning resource; we encourage understanding through intercultural awareness.

  •  The ability to express ideas both reflects and deepens understanding; students' communication skills are central to their learning.

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet help to create a better and more peaceful world.
The International Baccalaureate Organisation offers educational programmes to schools located throughout the world, and we offer these IB programmes at The North London International School. The North London International School (NLIS) is considered an IB World School, authorised to teach the Early Years Foundation Stage, Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. We offer the following programmes:

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) - ages 2 to 5

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) - ages 3 to 11

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) - ages 11 to 16

The Diploma Programme (DP) - ages 16 to 19

The IBCC is the Career Related Certificate which is a pilot vocational programme open to students who wish to combine two Diploma subjects with one BTec course thus providing an alternative route into higher education.

There are over 3000 IB World Schools that are authorised to offer IB programmes in 140 countries (27 July 2010).
