Welcome to the NLIS School Consultative Group Page

About the School Consultative Group

At The North London International School (NLIS), we have a  small group of parents and staff who take an active part in the strategic development of the school. We call this the School Consultative Group (SCG). This group, which represents the entire school, takes on many responsibilities of a governing body and is there to give advice, council and support.

What are the aims of the School Consultative Group?

The overall aim of the School Consultative Group (SCG) is to help The North London International School (NLIS) achieve its goal of providing a caring, stimulating and positive learning environment that enables all students to fulfil their full potential, and be prepared for life as responsible, confident, compassionate and capable citizens. Those serving on the SCG will be designated members.

The SCG seeks to achieve this aim through the following:

  • Involvement of parents and those with relevant interests in the strategic development of NLIS
  • Improving communication between the school and parents
  • Having an involvement in complaint resolution
  • Utilising the skills and knowledge of parents
  • Assurance
  • Supporting quality and standards

What is the structure of the group?

Membership of SCG

The SCG includes three parent representatives from the Upper School and three from Lower School (one of whom should serve jointly on each of the respective Parent Link Groups); a representative of the teaching staff from each of the Upper and Lower Schools; three school appointees; and the Head of School. In appointing members, the school will aim to bring together a range of skills and experience.

Frequency of Meeting

The SCG meets once each half term, which will mean a total of six meetings a year. If the need arises then extraordinary / emergency meetings can be called.

How does the SCG communicate?

With School

Representatives from the staff will be present at meetings to then liaise internally.

With Parents

Contact details of SCG members will be published to parents so that questions and concerns can be brought forward to the meetings. The SCG also connects with the Upper and Lower School Parent Link.
