Biographical Statement: |
Intrinsically from a very early age I could not understand the prejudice and unfairness I (and people of colour) was subjected to whilst growing up in South Africa. At age three the vivid images of the Palestinian conflict could not mentally resolve why war was better than peace. Teaching for me is more than a job, for me it is a tool in empowering the next generation in thinking critically and not allowing history to repeat itself. I have been in international education for eleven years teaching Mathematics and Science in various educational systems and programmes.
Working with the underprivileged children in South Africa for three years inspired my students, family and friends to generously help those in need irrespective of colour, creed and religion.
I strongly believe that every child deserves the best education in this very complex and challenging world.
